Research Task

For my research, I feel that I have conducted a pretty good amount of research. The images that I have looked into are from media that I already know a decent amount about, so looking into the images in further detail wasn't too much of a challenge for me. To improve my work, I would like to go into further detail on the subjects I was looking in to. I had a limited amount of time to look into these, so I had to cut a few corners here and there. To improve on this next time, I will make sure to save myself enough time so I can go into more detail on the research.

Design Task

For the design task, I feel that I have designed a pretty decent looking character. I took inspiration from medieval armor sets and modern day firearms. I feel that I have put a good amount of detail into the design and the gear of the character. Areas that I feel could be improved are the poses of the character. The poses that I have drawn are too simplistic in my opinion and I feel that I could draw more dynamic poses to improve this. Another area that I could improve on is the anatomy of the characters. I feel that I lacked the experience to draw anatomy at the time of drawing this, so it could use improving when designing characters in the future. One final area that I feel I could improve in is the design of the character. While I do feel like I have done a pretty good job, I think I could do a better job combining the elements of a medieval knight and a gunman. I will keep things like this in mind when designing characters in the future.

 I feel that I have achieved everything that I had set out to do with this project. Designed a character, created a final drawing and did some pretty good research on the artists and their artworks. I feel that I should take in what I have researched more when doing artwork of my own as I feel I didn't really do that too much when designing my character.

Artist Artwork Analysis Hirohiko Araki                     Araki has a very distinct art style. The look of the character's faces looks pretty realistic compared to most other manga. The characters also have a very masculine look to them, while also appearing flamboyant due to the bright colours and extravagant poses he usually draws the characters in. Concept Art Analysis

Concept Art Analysis Xenoblade Chronicles The concept art here is concept art created for the 3DS port of Xenoblade Chronicles in 2015. While I cannot find who drew it or exactly when it was drawn, I can make a guess that it was drawn sometime between late 2014 and the release date of the port, that being April 2nd, 2015. The game was developed by Monolith Soft, with the directors being Koh Kojima and Genki Yokota. The company has also worked on the Xenosaga series as well as a small amount of licensed games for other brands.  The strong elements in this design are the main character Shulk with his weapon called the Monado at the front, showing off the most important character in the plot of the game as well as something else of high value to the plot, and the large amount of the colour green as well as the large open area in the distance, showing that the areas in the game are not only covered in nature, but are also large and open to explore.
