Powerpoint Presentation Analysis

Powerpoint Presentation Analysis

Today I worked with Owen to create a Powerpoint presentation to analyse the artwork of our favourite games. Owen chose to look at Tomb Raider, I chose to look at Xenoblade Chronicles and we both chose to look at Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Together, we analysed the concept art of the three games, typing down what it makes us think of and what we can tell about the games.

Owen commented on how the picture looks dull and damp which suits Lara's mood at that current point. He also commented on the shipwreck in the background which could show the situation Lara had just been through. He commented that the storm could also be there to show Lara's mood. He also commented on how Lara is clutching her arm which shows us that Lara had sustained an injury.

Xenoblade Chronicles

I had commented on how the size of the world shown here represents the scale of the story told and the journey that the characters had gone through. I commented on how the single object in a vast empty field could show that that object has some relevance to the story. I commented on how the massive figure in the background will also have some relevancy due to how much it stands out in the vast blue sky and I also commented on how the size of the area shown could represent the size of the areas that are open for exploration.

In this artwork, we could tell that the more important characters to Nintendo are towards the front of the art, while the less important characters, most of them being new to this game, are at the back. Most of the characters are in an action pose of some kind to show that this is a fighting game(?)

Conclusion

Due to the games we looked at being different, we could tell that each of them have drastically different concept art. While they may be similar in some aspects, they are all extremely different games. This can be told through the radically different concept art.
