Task 4

Task 4 Analysis

The initial ideas I had were to design a new type of weapon so I sketched down some ideas for weapons I had. But drawing the firearms and the medieval style weapons gave me the idea to design a knight who uses firearms. So I wrote down my ideas for a character like that and the type of world he would live in.

In my moodboards I included different types of armor, different types of firearms and different poses with guns. The armor moodboard was so I could get inspiration for what the character's design would be. The design I eventually settled on is mostly inspired by the armor set on the far right of the top row on the armor moodboard. The firearms moodboard was so I could get inspiration for what weapons my character will be using. While the idea for my character was for him to use multiple types of firearms, I decided on using a pistol and a mini gun for his base design. The poses moodboard was so I could get inspiration for what poses I will draw my character in for the initial design and concept ideas. Though for my designs, I drew him in regular poses just so I could get a good idea of his design.

These drawings are the initial concept design ideas for my character. I drew a basic drawing of him facing forward, a drawing from the side and a drawing of him holding a different type of gun. The drawings were drawn on paper with pencil and shaded in with pencil and pencil crayons. I drew the figure of the character first and filled in the rest of the details as I drew. I believe I could have drawn the proportions more accurately and I think I could have used a better technique for the colouring.

For the final piece, I am happy about the poses of the characters and their designs. I feel like I have created an interesting concept and I think I did well with the proportions for this. However, I believe I could improve the colouring of the piece as the incorrect shading technique was used again. I personally want to practice digital art as I feel it would be easier to correct mistakes and add smaller details.
