Artist Artwork Analysis

Artist Artwork Analysis Hirohiko Araki                     Araki has a very distinct art style. The look of the character's faces looks pretty realistic compared to most other manga. The characters also have a very masculine look to them, while also appearing flamboyant due to the bright colours and extravagant poses he usually draws the characters in. Most of the art drawn by Araki is for his JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series which is well known for the usual traits of Araki's art style. However, as you can see with the image on the bottom right, that being the first manga cover of JoJo, you can tell that Araki's style didn't start off this way. Evaluation

Evaluation Research Task For my research, I feel that I have conducted a pretty good amount of research. The images that I have looked into are from media that I already know a decent amount about, so looking into the images in further detail wasn't too much of a challenge for me. To improve my work, I would like to go into further detail on the subjects I was looking in to. I had a limited amount of time to look into these, so I had to cut a few corners here and there. To improve on this next time, I will make sure to save myself enough time so I can go into more detail on the research. Design Task For the design task, I feel that I have designed a pretty decent looking character. I took inspiration from medieval armor sets and modern day firearms. I feel that I have put a good amount of detail into the design and the gear of the character. Areas that I feel could be improved are the poses of the character. The poses that I have drawn are too simplistic in my opinion

Task 3

Task 3 Analysis The artists I chose to replicate the artworks of are Hirohaki Araki and Jack Kirby. I replicated the cover of Volume 28 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders and the cover of Volume 1 of the Amazing Spiderman Omnibus. I made sure to plan ahead on what artworks to replicate. I made sure to do one example of western artwork and one example of Japanese artwork. To create the replications, I used regular pencils and pencil crayons. I did the drawings in my sketchbook. I tried just looking closely at the artworks and copying them down onto the paper. Not really much other techniques used. While the replications aren't 100% accurate to the source material since I'm only human, I personally believe the drawings themselves are of high quality.  The first image I tried to replicate was the cover of Volume 28 of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders manga. Task 4

Task 4 Analysis The initial ideas I had were to design a new type of weapon so I sketched down some ideas for weapons I had. But drawing the firearms and the medieval style weapons gave me the idea to design a knight who uses firearms. So I wrote down my ideas for a character like that and the type of world he would live in. In my moodboards I included different types of armor, different types of firearms and different poses with guns.The armor moodboard was so I could get inspiration for what the character's design would be. The design I eventually settled on is mostly inspired by the armor set on the far right of the top row on the armor moodboard. The firearms moodboard was so I could get inspiration for what weapons my character will be using. While the idea for my character was for him to use multiple types of firearms, I decided on using a pistol and a mini gun for his base design.
